Never judge a sexy man by his cover
Detective Beau Williams is hard-working, dedicated, and professional. He enjoys the finer things in life, but with his heavy caseload that includes what Beau suspects is a new serial killer, he has no time to enjoy much of anything. What the tall redhead needs is someone to shake him up a little.
Investigative Technician Austin Kent never met a snarky joke he didn’t like – or a set of stairs that couldn’t trip him up. One night after a devastating episode at work, Austin sees something else he likes – the handsome detective he’s seen around the station whom he’s always wondered about. But after he makes a drunken fool of himself in front of Detective Williams, he’s sure there’s no hope.
Beau and Austin’s worlds collide right away when Austin is sent to pick up some evidence at the station. Amidst a myriad of twists and turns in the troubling serial killer style murders of Vegas conventioneers, Austin and Beau discover that there’s more to the other than they’d originally thought. There might even be more they’d like to give – unless the killer has the final say.

They pulled up to a somewhat ratty single story line of rooms, the motel sign’s neon only half lit. Beau put the car in park then shut it off. He faced Austin.
“Are you comfortable coming in with me, or would you rather wait while I get the room?”
Austin mind whirled. Was Beau asking him something?
“I don’t have a condom.”
Beau’s eyebrows shot up, one corner of his mouth quirking. “Neither do I. We don’t have to go that far tonight.”
“Right.” Austin laughed shakily. “Of course. What was I thinking.”
Beau angled his head as if considering Austin.
“We don’t have to go through with this. I won’t be offended.” Beau’s voice had been soft, soothing.
Austin lunged at a startled Beau, knocking one knee into the dashboard, ramming his ribs with the gearshift. He didn’t give a shit. Grabbing Beau by the shoulders, his uninjured elbow pressed painfully against the steering wheel, but all he cared about was taking Beau’s mouth in a passionate kiss. He wouldn’t let Beau think he didn’t want him, not for a second.
It was a relief when Beau answered back, Austin no longer worried that he’d ruined his chance with him. It seemed as if neither one of them wanted to end the kiss, their tongues swiping, seeking each other’s wet heat. It grew into a sloppy exchange as their teeth clacked together, their lips smashed to the point where Austin knew they’d be swollen. It was fucking great.
Gradually it slowed, the acceleration of their shared breaths easing. Beau licked at Austin’s lips before retreating altogether. He rested his forehead against Austin’s. It was then that Austin realized they’d been stroking and kneading each other as their caresses had slowed. He was iron hard, his dick throbbing in his jeans, leaking, his balls aching. He needed Beau’s heat. It suddenly seemed as if that was the only thing that mattered in the entire world.
“I’m going to get a room. You wait here.”
Austin nodded, too overwhelmed to say anything. He was grateful that Beau always seemed so self-assured, liked to make the decisions. Austin was in such a state he doubted he could decide which way was left and which was right. Beau gave him a chaste kiss then got out of the car.
Jesus Christ. He made the move. He fucking made the first move.
M/M Erotic Romance author Morticia Knight enjoys hot stories of men loving men forever after. They can be men in uniform, Doms and subs, rock stars or bikers – but they’re all searching for the one (or two!) who was meant only for them.
When not indulging in her passion for books, she loves the outdoors, film and music. Once upon a time she was the singer in an indie rock band that toured the West Coast and charted on U.S. college radio. She is currently working on more installments of Sin City Uniforms and The Hampton Road Club, as well as the follow-up to Bryan and Aubrey’s story from Rockin’ the Alternative.
