An introspective songwriter, Kris Angelis combines her honest storytelling with pop-folk melodies you won’t be able to get out of your head. She’s won many awards for her songwriting prowess, including the 13th International Acoustic Music Award for Best Female Artist, LA Music Critics Award for Best Female EP, and she was named a winner at the 2016 International Songwriting Competition. Not to mention, a stint in the Top 10 on iTunes Singer/Songwriter albums charts.
Her new EP, “Heartbreak is Contagious,” is a self-proclaimed love story in four songs.Written and produced by Kris Angelis, Morgan Taylor Reid and Alexander Cardinale, “Heartbreak is Contagious” follows the life cycle of falling out of love. When one relationship comes to a heartbreaking end, it’s the chain reaction that sends a lover back out into the world to rediscover themselves. From those pesky metaphorical reminders of the space you built in your heart for that person (“Built This House”) to that desperate plea within yourself to find hope again (“Life Support”); Kris Angelis touches on every aspect of healing from a loss and opening yourself up to love again. It’s an EP about finding the will to pick up your own pieces when it’s the last thing you want to do. Even the final track, “Kevin Bacon,” is a melodic embodiment of the spark you feel when you meet someone new. The story begins on a heartbreaking note, and ends with that butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling of falling in love all over again.
“Heart Break is Contagious” encompasses the emotional arch we experience as we leave one phase of our lives for another. Whether it’s a lover, a place, or an experience.
